Fun competition to increase tidiness
Order and tidiness in the daily work is important for health, environment and safety at work. Therefore, we conducted an internal competition with daily score to assess the tidiness of each employee’s work station. The controller and HSE officer Belinda Teikari organized the initiative.
The contest started in November and was completed in December. The result was good. It is clear that the HSE focus has meant that people have tightened up. The challenge will be to keep up the good housekeeping.
HSE focus was organized in the way that a jury of three members each of which judged the condition of other employee's work station either at the working end or beginning.
For employees in the workshop, it is important that the tools put back in the correct place after use and that there is good order and overview of the work.
The same applies to employees with office work. A clean work desk at the end of each day makes the job easier for cleaning staff. It is important to tidy up after each task not only just before one goes home. When a case or task is performed, it is important that the paperwork is in put away and does not cover the desktop. A tidy office is also important that visitors have a positive impression of your business.
The status of each employees tidiness score was announced each Monday lunch time. Improvements made by an individual were made known to his colleagues.
HSE focus was successful. It will in 2012 be added to new areas of focus to keep the pressure up on all employees' responsibility for health and safety, maintains Belinda Teikari.
